NEW GENERATION OF PUNCTURE-RESISTANT MONOPE FLEXIBLE PACKAGING REPLACING MULTILAYER STRUCTURES
Enplater Group, in collaboration with SM Resinas and Dow, introduces a new generation of flexible packaging based on a predominantly polyethylene (MonoPE) structure, developed to replace traditional multilayer solutions such as PA/PE or PET/PE, while maintaining mechanical performance and improving compatibility with PE recycling streams. The main added value of this innovation lies in its ability to deliver functional equivalence in terms of mechanical strength, particularly puncture and impact resistance, which are critical factors in demanding applications such as fatty products, sharp-edged items, or heavy-weight formats. This new generation of MonoPE addresses the circularity requirements driven by European regulations and the need to reduce multi-material structures, offering the market a technically robust, industrially viable alternative designed to meet current industry demands, particularly in sectors such as meat, cheese, frozen foods, and ready meals suitable for microwave heating under defined conditions. Unlike conventional laminated structures made from heterogeneous materials, this solution has been formulated to enhance compatibility with polyethylene recycling streams, simplify structural architecture, and preserve production efficiency across different packaging lines as much as possible. Integrated high-barrier performance The structure allows for the incorporation of high-barrier systems compatible with recognized recyclability criteria, maintaining appropriate levels of protection against oxygen and moisture according to the specific requirements of each application. This capability extends its range of use to segments traditionally reserved for PA and/or PET-based structures, without compromising functionality or food safety standards. Thermal performance and functionality The material has been engineered to provide stable performance in microwaveable applications.

Flexible Packaging Textura 2: add touch to your designs
Printed flexible packaging with texture giving the chance to emulate more than just the look of the paper or metal.

Flexible packaging customization
Enplater Group has digital technology for customization and the production of small quantities of flexible packaging. A new opportunity for marketing departments to promote their products with random codes, promotions, and collections.

Petfull
Enplater has developed PETFULL©, a 100% PET lid, with recycling and the end consumer in mind. The PEFTULL lid, 100% PET, created by the R&D Department of the Enplater Group, is designed for use on PET trays. Both parts being made of the same type of plastic facilitates the recycling. This packaging is available with or without a barrier to prolong the conservation of fresh products. In addition, it can include an anti-fog treatment, which together with its high transparency and excellent peelability, optimizes the consumer’s perception of the packaged product.

Papershield: Monomaterial barrier paper
Enplater Group is making progress with its project to create new flexible and sustainable printed packaging, and, with the launch of Papershield, Enplater Group amplifies its portfolio of mono laminated products prepared for recycling. Papershield is part of the only-paper products range from the Enplater Group, Paperfull. Papershield it’s a fin seal paper and it has barrier properties against moisture, oxygen, MOSH, MOAH, grease and aroma. Papershield allows food industry manufacturers to securely package the most sensible products with paper packaging.

ENPLATER EXPANDS ITS RANGE OF READY TO RECYCLE FLEXIBLE PACKAGING
Enplater has extended its range of ready to recycle products con materiales ready to recycle: FullPE, FullPP, FullPET, FullPaper, compostables y biobased. In order to offer solutions to the new European guidelines the Enplater managing board has stablish as main target increasing the Green line range to achieve the 100% of its products to encourage the circular economy and compostability. Enplater is working beside its customers to reduce the environmental impact of the flexible packaging used in the food industry. The properties of this kind of packaging are the key elements to improve shelf life and the preservation of the organoleptic characteristics. These products avoid wastes that would suppose a very high ecological impact. The main Enplater guideline is to personalize all the products. The process is based on the requirements stablished by the customers, in order to change from conventional flexible packaging to the Enplater green line gradually. Both Enplater production plants are part of the environment care project. The plants have stablished a protocol to recover wastes and energy generates during the manufacturing process.

Enplater Full PP Retortpack. Flexible Packaging 100% PP resistant to Retort processes
Enplater Full PP retortpack is a mono-material flexible packaging resistant to retort processes. It replaces current multilayer structures, giving the chance to use ready-to-recycle films for food products that needs high thermal resistance for processes like sterilization and retort.

ENPLATER FULL PE HIGH BARRIER
Sustainability and making it easy for recyclers is one of the main goals for Enplater Group. As pioneers in flexible packaging, Enplater Group, invest in continuous innovation. Enplater Group have launched monomaterial flexible packaging PE with ultra-high barrier properties to O2, H2O and light flexible packaging made with just polyethylene. It’s a perfect solution to products sensible to these elements, as coffee, cheese, and chocolates between others. Enplater Group certifications and experience in rotogravure and digital printing offers to its customers a wide range of products and excellence service.

Enplater and Siegwerk Develop Flexible Mono-PP Packaging with Integrated Barrier and High Sealing Performance
Through close collaboration, both companies have successfully developed a fully recyclable mono-material polypropylene (PP) packaging solution that combines technical innovation and sustainability. This jointly developed project once again demonstrates how inks and coatings, combined with packaging converting expertise, can continue to drive circular innovations. Siegwerk, one of the world’s leading providers of printing inks and coatings for packaging and label applications, and Enplater Group, a specialist in the printing and production of rigid and flexible packaging, today announced the joint development of an innovative mono-material polypropylene (PP) packaging solution that delivers high technical performance while facilitating recyclability. The joint development combines Siegwerk’s expertise in high-performance, regulation-compliant ink and coating systems with Enplater’s extensive knowledge and experience in rigid and flexible packaging. Through close collaboration between the technical and R&D teams of both companies, comprehensive testing was carried out under real production conditions, generating data and results that supported the optimization of the new high-barrier mono-material PP packaging structure for food applications. “As the packaging industry continues its transition toward circular solutions, collaboration across the value chain is essential to drive further innovation,” said Javier García, Sales and Technology Director for the Iberian Peninsula at Siegwerk. “By combining our advanced ink and coating technologies with Enplater’s specialized converting expertise, we have been able to develop a mono-material PP packaging solution that delivers performance comparable to existing multi-material barrier structures, while supporting the material efficiency required to meet the design-for-recycling requirements outlined in the PPWR.”
